Wednesday was move-in day for firefighters at Fire Station 156.

The 11,000-square-foot station is located at 24505 Copper Hill Drive in Valencia and will serve as the new “home away from home” for Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel serving residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.

The new facility is equipped with a state-of-the art kitchen and individual sleeping quarters for the crew.

“We are happy to be moving into this station,” Capt. Joe Kinney said. “The public is welcome anytime.”

Since 2007, firefighters assigned to the station had used temporary quarters next door. A date for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony is yet to be announced.
