One person was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence at a Sheriff’s DUI and drivers license checkpoint Thursday night in Valencia, an official said.
Fourteen citations were issued for driving with a suspended license or no license and four vehicles were towed, including two 30-day impounds.
SCV Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Efflandt said state law requires cars to be impounded for a month if an unlicensed driver is behind the wheel.
A total of 692 vehicles passed through the two-hour checkpoint at Newhall Ranch Road and Grandview Drive, and five drivers were given field sobriety tests, Efflandt said.
Local checkpoint activities are funded by the state Office of Traffic Safety.
SCV law enforcement officials said Thursday they’re participating in an intensive, nationwide effort to crack down on drunk driving from Aug. 19 to Sept. 5.
