The Santa Clarita Public Library and Mayor Pro-Tem Laurie Ender invite community reading lovers to the Book Club Extravaganza on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Activities Center, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway. The free workshop will help train teens and adults on the best practices of hosting a successful book club.
“The Santa Clarita Public Libraries have useful tools and resources perfect for forming a book club,” commented Mayor Pro-Tem Laurie Ender. “We want book clubs at the Santa Clarita Library to be a fun, educational experience and provide intellectual conversations for our community members.”
For prospective book club leaders, the library will introduce grab-it-and-go kits filled with multiple copies of top book selections to make starting a club quick and easy. Book club selections are not limited to those included in the kits. The Santa Clarita Public Library will also help club organizers place holds on multiple copies of books they are interested in reading and discussing.
The event will also share tips to help club members and leaders host lively book discussions. Topics also include conversation starters for first book club meetings, fun activities, and ways of retaining club membership.
