The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce has selected SCVTV as one of five nominees for its Small Business of the Year Award in recognition of SCVTV’s service to the community, to the chamber and local businesses.

“We’re incredibly honored to be nominated for the chamber’s Small Business of the Year Award,” SCVTV President Leon Worden said. “It’s humbling and gratifying to be recognized by the chamber for our staff’s hard work and advocacy of the Santa Clarita Valley business community.”

The SCV Chamber will present its Business of the Year Awards during the chamber’s 88th annual  installation dinner, scheduled for Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. The theme of this year’s event is “007 Monte Carlo Casino Night,” and reservations are available by calling the chamber at 661-702-6977.

The other four nominees for the Small Business of the Year Award are Dink’s Deli, Jersey Mike’s Subs, NewMarket Careers and Point of View Communications.

The chamber also announced its nominees for Medium Business and Large Business of the Year awards, as well as five individual nominees for the chamber’s special achievement award: Barbi Davis, Jeff Lui, Ed Masterson, Nikki Simon and Linda Woolf.

Medium business nominees include Affordable Quality/Mayflower M&S, American Family Funding, Bank of Santa Clarita, Chick-fil-A and Valencia Acura.

The large business nominees are Boston Scientific, Galpin of Santa Clarita, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Mission Valley Bank and Salt Creek Grille.

“We care deeply about helping local businesses and nonprofits succeed in this valley,” Worden said. “The SCV Chamber does an outstanding job of promoting our thriving local business community, and that’s reflected in the variety of businesses nominated for the chamber’s awards. We’re keeping some pretty amazing company.”

SCVTV’s support of the SCV Chamber of Commerce includes free promotion of chamber events on SCVTV and SCVNews.com, advertising discounts for chamber members, and the televising of shows such as Fred Arnold’s “Out of the Rough” and “SCV Newsmaker of the Week” which regularly feature interviews with local business and nonprofit leaders. SCVTV supports dozens of local nonprofit organizations – including the chamber – with coverage of special events and public service announcements.

In addition, SCVTV is currently administering a Community Development Block Grant program that enables qualifying business owners to receive free commercial advertising for one year.

SCVTV is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation that operates the Santa Clarita Valley’s public, education and government channel on behalf of the City of Santa Clarita, College of the Canyons, William S.
