Carlos Marroquin
Carlos Marroquin, owner of Planet Soccer in Newhall and the Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer club, has joined Futbol Club Santa Clarita in an operational capacity, FCSC announced Sunday.
“We are very excited to have on board with us Mr. Marroquin, who has not only operated a successful business in Santa Clarita – Planet Soccer – for many years, but he is also the founder and president of the very successful women’s team of the United Soccer Leagues ‘W’ League, the Santa Clarita (Blue) Heat,” said FCSC chief executive Gerald Brunner.
“Marroquin will be involved with the day-to-day operations as well and game day operations,” Brunner said. “He is going to be a big addition to our organization and its success in Santa Clarita.”
FCSC relocated recently from the Antelope Valley. The FCSC Storm faced Mexico’s powerful Chivas Guadalajara Under-20 team in an exhibition, losing 3-2 in the Storm’s first SCV contest.
Brunner noted that Marroquin’s Blue Heat went undefeated in only its second season and came away with several national USL awards including organization of the year.
