The Digital Bookmobile National Tour will make a stop at the Valencia Branch of the Santa Clarita Public Library to offer free eBook download services Sunday, Feb. 5, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Presenting high-definition instructional videos, the Digital Bookmobile shows library members how to take advantage of eReader technology that is compatible with the Library’s download service. The Digital Bookmobile also features a gadget gallery showcasing popular eReader technologies such as the Kindle, iPod, Android Tablet, Nook, Sony Reader, Blackberry, Windows Phone, and more.
The Digital Bookmobile is inside a massive 18-wheel tractor-trailer, stretching nearly 74 feet long. This technological version of the traditional bookmobile is equipped with broadband Internet connected computers, high-definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players to help patrons search through the Library’s digital media collection.
Since the City assumed library operations in July 2011, there have been a total of 8,648 titles checked-out online including 902 Audiobooks and 7,746 eBooks.
Patrons can access the growing collection of bestselling, new and classic digital titles anytime at santaclaritalibrary.com. Once downloaded, eBooks can be enjoyed on a computer or transferred to supported mobile devices, or even burned to a CD. Titles automatically expire at the end of the lending period, guaranteeing no late or damaged book fees.
