The Saugus girls soccer team won its 20th Foothill League game in a row, but lost another player to injury.
Saugus beat Canyon, 2-1, behind goals from Alana Shaw and Angie Weiner. Monica Allen, one of the top defenders on the team, hurt her knee and was taken out of the game.
Saugus lost Stacey Atwater with a broken collar bone in a game last week.
Megahn Kennedy scored the lone goal for Canyon on a corner kick in injury time in the second half.
In other games, the Golden Valley girls won their first Foothill League game in school history, 2-1, over Valencia. Samantha Jennings scored both goals for Golden Valley.
The Hart girls beat West Ranch, 3-2. Jenny Chavez scored the game-winner late in the second half. Presely Lambert and Danica Morgan also scored for Hart.
The Santa Clarita Christian girls beat Hillcrest Christian, 5-0, behind a hat trick from freshman Lauren Gallagher.
Kimberly Curry scored on a penalty kick for the first goal of her high school career. Tiffany Shroyer also scored for Santa Clarita Christian.
On the boys side, Canyon shut out Saugus, 1-0. A.J. Rochow scored the lone goal of the game for Canyon.
The Valencia boys shut out Golden Valley, 1-0. Jesus Fernandez scored the goal for Valencia.
In high school football, Canyon running back Max Archuleta is headed to the Ivy League. He committed to play college football at Yale.
West Ranch’s Jeffrey Coprich is headed to UC Berkeley. The running back is being recruited as an athlete and will have a shot to play a variety of positions when spring practices start at Cal.
In college basketball, The Master’s College men beat San Diego Christian, 60-47. Mike Harmon scored 16 points for The Master’s College, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA. Anthony Cammon scored 13 points and had five assists.
The Master’s College women lost a heartbreaker to San Diego Christian, 62-61. The Master’s College outscored San Diego Christian by 12 points in the second half, but came up a little short.
Lena Rivera scored 17 points and had seven rebounds for The Master’s College.
In college baseball, The Master’s College lost a doublehader to Simpson College. The Mustangs lost the first game, 7-6. Bryan Lucas was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored a run for The Master’s College.
The Mustangs lost the second game, 1-0.
In hockey, Team Chara beat Team Alfredsson, 12-9, in the NHL All-Star game. Jonathan Quick, the lone representative for the Kings in the All-Star game, gave up three goals and made 10 saves for Team Alfredsson.
Marion Gaborik from the New York Rangers scored three goals and had an assist. He was the MVP of the game.
