The Cowboys got 20 points each from Tiffini Stone and Alia McCoy on their way to a 75-52 Foothill League win over the Indians Friday night at Hart High School.
The win guarantees the Cowboys at least a share of the Foothill league championship, their third in a row.
In a game that was televised by SCVTV, it was a tale of two halves for McCoy and Stone. In the first half it was McCoy who was unstoppable, scoring all 20 of her points in the first 16 minutes.
Stone had six at the break, but then opened up the second half with two quick baskets on her way to 14 in the second 16 minutes of play.
The Cowboys (20-6, 8-2) were without junior Jaya Schultz who sat out of the game as a precaution with a bothersome knee.
In their final high school performances, Hart’s Melissa Boscarino and Victoria Lionetti played their hearts out. Boscarino led the Indians (5-21, 0-10) with 15 points and Lionetti followed with 14. In a class move, first-year head coach Terra Palmer pulled his two top seniors off the court in the final seconds of the game so the Hart faithful could give the players a well deserved ovation..
