The Master’s College men’s basketball team is creating its own March Madness.
The Master’s College won the West Regional of the National Christian College Athletic Association tournament and is headed to Indiana.
The Mustangs beat Hope International, 60-56, to earn a spot in the national championship tournament that begins next week.
The Master’s College baseball team swept a doubleheader against San Diego Christian. The Mustangs won the first game, 9-2, and the nightcap, 5-4, in extra innings.
The College of the Canyons baseball team lost to Glendale College, 4-3. Glendale scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to win the game.
In high school softball, Valencia won its first game in the Tournament of Champions in Nevada, 5-0, over Yucaipia. Carly Mortensen struck on 13 and pitched a two-hitter in the complete-game shutout.
The Canyon softball team beat Newbury Park, 8-2. Tiffany Dyson drove in four runs and was 3-for-4.
The Santa Clarita Christian softball team lost to Oakwood, 12-10, at the Hart PONY Complex. Aubrey Robinson drove in four runs and was 3-for-4 for Santa Clarita Christian.
In college softball, the College of the Canyons won its 15th game in a row, beating Glendale College, 7-6, in the Western State Conference opener.
Nikki Haslock hit a two-run home run for COC, undefeated at 15-0.
In baseball, the Dodgers beat the A’s, 7-2, in a Cactus League game in Arizona. Chris Capuano pitched two scoreless innings, struck out three and gave up two hits.
In hockey, the Kings lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-1, and saw their three-game winning streak snapped. Former King Jack Johnson scored a goal for the Blue Jackets.
Anze Kopitar scored the only goal for the Kings.
The Kings are back on the ice tonight against the Detroit Red Wings.
