[June 15] – In their first long-distance road game of the season, the Santa Clarita Blue Heat battled the Colorado Rapids to a 0-0 tie.

The Blue Heat had three unsuccessful scoring opportunities in the first half and a total of eight shots were taken by Sydney Vermillion, Ana Borges, Holly Hein and Rachel Nuzzolese.  The Rapids booked 11 total shots with five taken by defender Erin Gunther.  The match proved to be very physical with the referee showing two cautions to the Blue Heat and one to the Rapids.  When the dust settled, the Rapids had 13 fouls to the Blue Heat’s five.

“This was an intense match to play, given the altitude,” noted Blue Heat Head Coach Charles Martinez.  “Every player stepped up to the test, doing what we asked them to do.  I am very proud of the whole team because we were forced to play a more physical game and never lost intensity. Although it was disappointing that we couldn’t find the net, based on the challenges today, getting the point is a good result for us.”

[June 16] – The Santa Clarita Blue Heat finished their trip to the Rocky Mountain state with a 1-1 tie against the Colorado Rush Women on Saturday evening. The point moves the Blue Heat into a fourth place tie with the Colorado Rapids Women in the Western Conference.
