The City of Santa Clarita is pleased to welcome back one of the most popular summertime traditions, Concerts in the Park. In anticipation of this summer’s concert, parking passes will be offered for guests to purchase for the duration of the series with the first concert starting July 7 and running through August 25, 2012.
Concerts in the Park premier passes are available for $150 and provide a guaranteed backstage parking spot for the entire summer series. This is a limited opportunity so hurry and purchase a pass before the concert series begins. Premier parking passes must be purchased online and will be mailed before the first concert. Passes may also be picked up at the Arts and Events Office, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.
“Concerts in the Park is a long standing tradition that returns every summer by popular demand, and is entirely free for everyone to enjoy. Not only will attendees enjoy outstanding performances of popular music, guests are guaranteed to have a fun night with friends and family,” says City of Santa Clarita Mayor Frank Ferry.
The free, annual concert series kicks off at Central Park, located on Bouquet Canyon, every Saturday at 7:00 p.m. featuring new and familiar acts. The 2012 series begins on July 7, with a performance by The Shoemaker Brothers. Known as Folk Rock music, this band’s originality captivates audiences as they switch instruments during their performances. The series continues on July 14, as Led Zepagain takes the stage. This band pays tribute to Led Zeppelin by replicating concerts and the original sound of the iconic band. The familiar rhythms are heard through the astonishing acoustic works and the energetic electric classics.
A well-established Pop Rock cover band, known as The Basix, performs on July 21. These professionals are no strangers to the stage as they have opened for many popular bands such as Air Supply, The Coasters, and The Village People. The Basix continue to grow in popularity because of their ability to sound and perform to the approval of the promoters, headliners, and their fans.
The hits keep coming with a performance by The Atomic Punks on July 28. This band pays tribute to Van Halen by capturing the vintage sound and energy of this magnanimous era. Not only have they performed numerous times in venues throughout the country, they guarantee guests will not be disappointed with their Van Halen rendition. The Walking Phoenixes follow on August 4, paying homage to Johnny Cash with their harmonies and guitar solos. In addition, The Walking Phoenixes also play songs made popular by other famous artists such as Willie Nelson, The Eagles, and John Denver.
A Motown classic R&B group called The Durell Coleman Band returns to Concerts on August 11. This band will include multiple vocalists, choreography, and a powerful horn section to infuse true soul into some of the greatest hits in R&B. Having opened for Earth Wind & Fire, The Temptations, and Anita Baker, The Durell Coleman Band is one performance you won’t want to miss.
Latin Jazz music from Bandidos De Amor fills the air on August 18. The band sings in both Spanish and English which creates a huge following of international and intergenerational fans. A mix of Jamaican Roots, Argentinean Folklorica, and American Alternative Roots, their style of music is extremely infectious keeping the audience wanting more.
Finally, on August 25, Wanted takes the stage to pay tribute to Bon Jovi. This Rock and Roll band is the perfect group to close out the Concerts in the Park series, because of their ability to create a fun, concert environment using the style and atmosphere that is known as the Bon Jovi show.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to set up their chairs and to enjoy the variety of food vendors that will be present. This year, out of consideration for others, guests cannot reserve areas by staking and roping and are asked to stay with their belongings at all times. Unattended possessions will be removed by City Staff.
