Snapshot for the week of 07/02/2012 through 07/08/2012
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station
Crime Prevention Unit
[LASD] – I reviewed ten reports of part-1 crimes that occurred during the above dates, in Zone 6. Here is a breakdown of the 10 incidents: (2) Aggravated assaults, (1) commercial burglary, (6) vehicle burglaries, and (1) petty theft.
One of the aggravated assaults involved an unknown male who threw a hammer at the rear window of an occupied vehicle on 07/02/2012. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 9, 160 to 170 pounds, in his early 20’s. (Ref- 09105) The investigation is still on-going.
Of the six vehicle burglaries, two occurred in the Valle Del Oro area, two occurred in the 24600 block of Spruce Street, and two occurred on Newhall Avenue. Some of the items stolen were GPS, IPOD, a purse, IPAD, and US Currency. It appeared most of the items were in plain view inside the vehicle prior to the suspect(s) smashing the window and stealing the items.
I am also seeing a trend of thefts occurring from power supply boxes belonging to a local cable company. Gel Cell / Deep cycle, 12 volt batteries have been stolen. The investigation into these thefts is still on going.
We continue to work closely with the city of Santa Clarita to eliminate graffiti from our neighborhoods. To report graffiti in the city please call (661) 25-CLEAN (252-5326), or by visiting www.santa-clarita.com
I would like to thank you for signing up for the Nixle service, and I hope you find these crime prevention updates helpful.
