The first session will be held Friday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. at Chesebrough Park, 23505 Sunset Hills Drive, Santa Clarita. The second session is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. at the tables behind the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, 360 North Arroyo Blvd., Pasadena. Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Golden Valley Virtual Charter School is an entirely virtual program serving motivated, self-directed students in grades 6-12 who are able to work with a high degree of independence. The program offers a rigorous, standards-based curriculum; scheduling flexibility; multi-tiered levels of support; access to caring, knowledgeable fully credentialed teachers; assessment and accountability. Students attend school each day online from their homes or other off-site locations.

“Golden Valley offers a personalized, home-based learning experience for many types of students including accelerated learners looking for Advanced Placement and dual-credit classes, students missing credits and needing to catch up, and those needing a flexible schedule in order to pursue outside interests,” Terri Adams, Golden Valley executive director said. “We keep students motivated and on task with our interactive curriculum and highly-trained instruction from round-the-clock teachers.”

Golden Valley Virtual Charter School complies with all California graduation requirements and offers a full middle and high school curriculum, including more than 15 Advanced Placement courses, a wide variety of electives and a service learning option. Students can jump-start their college careers with early graduation options and dual enrollment in college courses. Nationally recognized learning provider Advanced Academics supplies the program’s learning management system, web-based curriculum and online teaching staff.

“We believe students deserve every opportunity to receive a quality education catered to their individual needs,” Adams said. “By offering students a more personal approach, we’re able to make more efficient use of both time and educational resources. Our students continue to achieve at the highest level, and we’re proud to be a small part of their success.”
