[Sportech] – Sportech Racing LLC, a division of the British firm Sportech Plc, announced the opening of a new mini satellite off-track wagering venue at Santa Clarita Lanes in Saugus. Mini satellites are off-track wagering operations established in dining and entertainment venues – such as bars, restaurants and card clubs – where patrons can wager on and watch live horseracing. California regulations allow for 45 mini satellites, subject to local approvals, and Sportech has assisted with all those opened to-date.

Sportech was selected to provide key assistance in the identification of venue locations and with build-out of the facilities for wagering activity. Sportech also provides terminals for wagering, audio/visual equipment for the display of race video and services for on-going operations. Sportech provides totalisator services to the new mini satellite through its Quantum(TM) Data Center in Sacramento.

David Haslett, Managing Director of Sportech Racing, stated, “We at Sportech believe that the key to growing the fan base for horse racing is about providing exposure to quality events. This is why we invest in the mini satellite program in California – to introduce as many new fans as possible to the excitement of horse racing.”

Santa Clarita Lanes Watch and Wager is located at 21615 Soledad Canyon Road in Saugus and offers racing Wednesday through Sunday.
