Nineteen-year-old Falco DiGiallonardo won the seventh and final race of the summer College of the Canyons Cross Country Series. He completed the course in 15 minutes, 11.3 seconds.
Daniel DeLaTorre was second in 15 minutes, 14.2 seconds. Alfredo Coronado was third in 16 minutes, 9.9 seconds.
Fifteen-year-old Marissa Magsarili was the highest finishing woman in the race. She crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 36.4 seconds.
In the NFL, Valencia High graduate and New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen rushed for 20 yards in his team’s 27-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in a preseason game.
Vereen caught a team-high four passes for 29 yards in his second preseason game with the Patriots.

In college football, USC is the No. 1 team in the AP preseason poll. The Trojans received 25 of a possible 60 first-place votes.
Alabama was No. 2 followed by LSU at No. 3. Oregon is No. 5 in the preseason rankings.
Dodger Stadium has been anything but home sweet home for the Dodgers. After coming off a 7-3 road trip, the Dodgers lost to the San Francisco Giants, 2-1, in the first game of a crucial series against their National League West rivals.
Giants starter Madison Bumgarner outdueled Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw. Bumgarner struck out 10 and tossed eight shutout innings against the Dodgers.
Pablo Sandoval drove in both runs for the Giants. Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez broke up the shutout with a solo home run in the ninth inning.
The Dodgers and Giants continue their series tonight at Dodger Stadium. Joe Blanton will get the start for the Dodgers. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum starts for the Giants.
