A candlelight vigil in honor of Overdose Awareness Day is scheduled Friday night at 6 p.m. at the Action Family Zone on Soledad Canyon Road to remember those affected by drug overdoses.
According to Action, accidental drug overdose causes more deaths in the United States than traffic fatalities.
The vigil will stand in remembrance of those lost to overdoses, honor the loved ones left behind, hear stories from impacted families and friends, and honor those who have been courageous and shared personal experiences.
It will also raise awareness about the heroin and prescription pill overdose epidemic and advocate for lifesaving solutions.
Anyone impacted by the overdose or heroin/prescription pill epidemic, individuals in recovery, community members and others interested in learning more about dealing with drugs should attend. Participants are encouraged to bring pictures of lost loved ones, ribbons and stories to share.
The Action Family Zone is located at 20655 Soledad Canyon Road, Suite 25 in Canyon Country. Attendance is free.
