The recently released 2012 California Retail Survey ranked the City of Santa Clarita among the “Top 25 City Retail Markets in California,” based on analysis of 11 years of retail sales data, annual retail sales volume and 2010 year-end estimates. The City of Santa Clarita was one of only 22 cities with a retail market above $2 billion and ranked higher than Beverly Hills, Burbank, Glendale, and Santa Monica, among others.
The 2012 California Retail Survey ranks the largest cities in California based on dollar volume, growth rates, and sales per outlet. The publication is a respected source of market intelligence for corporate and government executives with analysis and rankings based on actual sales results from retailers in the state.
Santa Clarita’s reputation as a strong retail market has captured the attention of business owners and retailers since incorporation in 1987. In the midst of the Great Recession, the City worked with Westfield Valencia Town Center to welcome more than 40 new retailers, in addition to several new restaurants, and two new auto dealerships. Businesses are betting on the success of Santa Clarita as a leading retail market that is poised for continued growth.
“Santa Clarita continues to be a bright spot in California’s economy,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “Our philosophy has always been ‘what’s good for business is good for Santa Clarita’ and that message resonates with business owners and retailers. We will continue to do everything we can to support local businesses, jobs for residents, and economic growth in our community.”
