The Canyon football team dropped from No. 1 to No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division rankings.
The Cowboys lost to Quartz Hill, 56-49, on Friday night. It was the first loss of the season for Canyon.
Palmdale moved up to No. 1 in the Northern Division. The Falcons are 3-0 and had a bye this week.
Hart stayed at No. 2 after beating Ridgeview, 49-27.
Valencia moved up to No. 6 after winnings its first game of the season, 48-9, over Righetti.
The Trinity Classical Academy is No. 3 in the Southern Section Division II 8-man football poll.
In girls tennis, Hart won the Valencia Fall Brawl, downing the host Vikings, 18-15, in the team portion of the tournament.
Sophie White from Arroyo Grande won the singles title, defeating Hart’s Jackie Resler in the final match.
Valencia’s Ashley Keith and Tina Inchalik won the doubles title, 8-2, over West Ranch’s Hana El Arabi and Sydney Schwartz.
In high school cross country, the Golden Valley boys team won the rated race at the Woodbridge Classic in Costa Mesa.
Nolan Del Valle was third in the rated race and completed the 3-mile course in 14 minutes, 43 seconds.
The West Ranch girls were second in the rated race. Marisa Magsarili finished in sixth place for the Wildcats.
The Saugus boys were seventh in the sweepstakes race. The Canyon boys were 16th.
The Golden Valley girls were 14th in the sweepstakes race. The Canyon girls were 18th.
The first Foothill League girls golf match is today at the El Cariso course in Sylmar. All six teams from the Foothill League tee off at 1.
It’s a busy night of girls volleyball.
Hart travels to Ventura to play Buena. West Ranch is on the road to Bakersfield to play Frontier. Saugus heads to Sherman Oaks to play Notre Dame. Trinity is at Ribet Academy.
The Master’s College women’s volleyball team, ranked No. 13 in the NAIA, is home against Hope International.
The Dodgers are in Washington D.C. to start a series against the Nationals tonight.
