Snapshot for 10/29/2012 through 11/04/2012.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit
[LASD] – Zone 5 had nineteen Part-1 crimes being reported this week. The criminal incidents we saw this period were assaults, vehicle burglaries, theft from an unlocked vehicle, grand theft auto and a number of petty thefts/shoplifting from local businesses.
The one assault involved a female suspect who had been consuming alcohol and was involved in an altercation with a neighbor during Halloween evening. She was arrested and booked for an assault likely to cause great bodily injury. The other assault occurred in a parking lot involving a homeless man. He was also arrested and booked for an assault with a deadly weapon. Both cases are being handled by the Santa Clarita Station Detectives.
There were four vehicle burglaries that occurred during different hours/days of the week in various areas of Valencia. Two of the vehicle burglaries were smash and grab of items located in the center console area of the vehicles and the other two had smashed passenger windows with no items stolen.
One theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 24700 block of Riverchase Drive during the early morning hours on the weekend. The item stolen was a GPS that was left visible from outside the vehicle. I urge everyone to please secure all personal belongings (purses, book bags, lap tops, etc.) unattended or visible in your vehicles. Remember to secure your vehicles by rolling up all windows, locking all doors and when possible try to park in well-lit and highly visible areas.
There were two reports of grand theft vehicles. Another Honda Civic was stolen from 27000 block of Avenue Mentry and a BMW-335I was stolen from the 27000 block of Riverchase Drive. Both vehicles were stolen during the early morning hours. This is the fourth Honda vehicle that has been stolen in the past month. Please be cautious and aware of your surroundings. Report all suspicious activity by calling the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
There were ten arrests made by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area last week. The criminal charges included assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, grand theft, and shoplifting from local businesses.
