A three-car collision in Canyon Country at 2 a.m. Saturday left a Palmdale man dead and a Saugus man in custody, and two others with injuries.

Anthony Druliner, 29, of Saugus, was driving a 2007 Lincoln heading westbound on Vasquez Canyon Road when the vehicle he was driving veered into the eastbound lane, west of Burton Way, according to a California Highway Patrol statement.

The car struck  head on a 2006 Mazda driven by Steven Oster, 49, of Palmdale, who was killed in the collision. Jonathan Lavoie, 25, of Santa Clarita, was in the Lincoln and suffered major injuries in the crash.

Druliner is considered in custody, but he has not yet been charged, according to CHP officials. Both Druliner and Lavoie were ejected from the vehicle.

“(Druliner) was transported to the hospital for medical treatment, which is why he wouldn’t have been charged, yet,” said Officer Tatiana Sauqillo of the California Highway Patrol.

Druliner also sustained major injuries in the crash. Druliner and Lavoie were not wearing seatbelts, according to a CHP statement.

Vasquez Canyon Road was closed at 8 a.m. due to the investigation. Vasquez Canyon Road, near the scene of the collision, remained closed as of 1:30 p.m. as CHP officers continued to look into the crash.

CHP officials did not have an estimated time for when the road would be re-opened.

Lancaster resident Rocio Vasquez, 23, sustained minor injuries after Druliner’s vehicle continued eastbound and struck her car.

Alcohol and/or drug impairment is suspected to be a factor in this collision, but no charges have been filed at this time, according to CHP officials.
