The Hart School District is pleased to announce that the Golden Oak Adult School jazz band will be performing a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, at West Ranch High School Performing Arts Theater. The group is made up of local professional-level adult musicians.
Bob Babko, recently retired and former band director at Valencia High and West Ranch High, came up with the idea of setting up a Golden Oak Adult School sponsored jazz band. Members of the band are recruited and accepted by Babko.
GO Jazz is hoping to keep the group performing throughout the year. They are also looking to open a second level class that would allow students to learn and play with other musicians in a group. Adults that are interested are encouraged to call, (661) 259-0033 X444.
The concert is a great opportunity for all ages to enjoy. The proceeds will help GO Jazz continue to provide a quality entertainment option for our community.
“GO Jazz is a 17-18 piece ensemble that has been practicing feverishly since October,” Ron Rudzinski, principal of Golden Oak Adult School said. “They sound great and look forward to performing a board selection of popular tunes at this concert.” The group plans to perform at least three concerts each year for the community.
Tickets are available for the general public for $10. ($5. for students and 60+) by calling 259-0033 X444, or at the door. Musicians interested in learning more about auditioning for the band and participating in the group, under the direction of Bob Babko, can call the same phone number.
