Galpin Subaru of Valencia recently announced its title sponsorship of Rock, Walk & Wag, a pet adoption festival and dog walk at Central Park in Saugus on April 27, which will benefit spay/neuter services provided by the Santa Clarita based non-profit AngelDogs Foundation. If you’re the No. 1 car driven by pet owners, it’s only natural to support an event to benefit companion pets.  That’s exactly what Galpin Subaru (www.galpinsubaru.com), part of Galpin Santa Clarita and a proud member of the Galpin Motors (www.galpin.com) family, is doing as title sponsor of Rock, Walk & Wag (www.rockwalkwag.org).

The free, fun, family festival will educate the public about the importance of spay/neuter, and raise funds to help keep this life-saving surgery widely available at a reduced rate for the public throughout southern and central California. The event will be held at Central Park in Santa Clarita on April 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Rock, Walk & Wag is right up our alley. We all know Subaru and pets go hand in hand,” said David Gillum, General Manager of Galpin Subaru. “Subaru has supported national animal welfare organizations for many years. I feel it’s important to focus on our local community by giving back and supporting events such as this one.”

Rock, Walk & Wag (www.rockwalkwag.org) is hosted by AngelDogs Foundation (www.angeldogsfoundation.org), a nonprofit organization that operates a low cost/high quality spay/neuter mobile clinic throughout southern and central California. Established in March 2009, the organization has fixed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped more than 25,000 animals during their 4 years in the field, servicing both Los Angeles and Kern Counties.  Most recently, the AngelDogs team launched the first, all-breed rescue ranch for deaf dogs (www.angeldogsfoundationdeafdogranch.org), to save the lives of these wonderful animals. They are commonly misdiagnosed and found on municipal shelter red lists and slated for euthanasia nationwide.  Contacted by various people, groups and municipalities who come across these dogs, AngelDogs will transport the animals to the ranch from all over the United States, where they rehabilitate and place these “deafies” in new forever homes.

The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with a dog walk along Central Park’s Perimeter Trail, followed by a day packed with free family fun, pet adoptions, live music and a variety of great foods at 10 a.m.

“We are proud to have Galpin of Santa Clarita partner with us!  Their support and commitment to making Rock, Walk & Wag a success, along with their true dedication to help save the lives of less fortunate animals is incredible,” said Lisa Tipton, AngelDogs Foundation founder.

At the Galpin Subaru booth, guests can take part in an interactive contest and win great giveaways. Or head over to the Galpin Main Stage to see the new XV Subaru Crosstek on display.  There will also be an opportunity to win a Subaru weekend rental, which will appeal to anyone, especially the adventurous pet owner. “These vehicles are built for rugged outdoor terrain. Subarus are all-wheel drive vehicles with no limitations,” Gillum said. “These cars are dog tested and dog approved. Like the Subaru commercial says, I sell cars to dogs.”

For those looking to add a four-legged member to their family, take a stroll down Adoption Alley, sponsored by Natural Balance. Cute cuddly adoptable dogs and cats will be available from several area shelters at reduced adoption fees. Local rescues will also be joining the fun with their adoptable pets.

“Some people don’t know that to get a dog or cat, you don’t have to buy one. It’s great to raise awareness on adopting shelter pets,” Gillum said.

Guests at Rock, Walk & Wag can visit with popular and unique vendors, participate in the silent auction and enter to win prize drawings. Delicious food will be available from popular food trucks Meat the Greek, Crepe’n Around, Streets of Thailand and Hang 10 Tacos.  Live music by local bands Sierra Highway, Lock Down, and Wildwood Highway will provide entertainment throughout the day. Friendly, well-socialized dogs are welcome to join their owners on the walk and/or at the festival.

Rock, Walk & Wag, Saturday, April 27, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Santa Clarita. Free. For more information on Rock, Walk & Wag, visit www.rockwalkwag.org.
