Snapshot For 04/22/2013 – 04/28/2013

 

This week in Canyon Country-East we had 14 Part-1 crimes. Of those reported crimes, there were 2 assaults, 4 residential burglaries, 4 garage burglaries, 1 commercial burglary, and 3 larcenies.

An assault occurred in the 28500 block of Sand Canyon Road. While the victim was pumping gas, the suspect asked him for money. The victim refused several times and walked into the store. As the victim was walking, the suspect assaulted him. The investigation is ongoing and the suspect has not yet been identified. In the second assault, a group of people were arguing on Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway. The argument escalated and one victim was kicked and punched. The suspect was arrested for the assault.

A residential burglary occurred in the 27300 block of Sumac Court between Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 1:25 a.m. Entrance was made through a bedroom window. Two laptops and two watches were stolen from the bedroom. A residential burglary occurred in the 28200 block of Winterdale Drive on Thursday, April 25th, 2013 between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Entrance was made through a bathroom window and currency was taken from a bedroom. A residential burglary occurred in the 28900 block of Sam Place between Monday April 22, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. Entrance was made through a bathroom window and a laptop was stolen from the bedroom. A residential burglary occurred in the 27300 block of Palo Verde Place on Thursday, April 25, 2013 between 12:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Entrance was made through a locked sliding glass door and a television was stolen from the living room.

A garage burglary occurred in the 18100 block of Sundowner Way between Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 10:30 p.m. and Monday, April 22, 2013 at 6:30 a.m. Pry marks were observed on the garage door. Miscellaneous paperwork was stolen from a vehicle parked inside. A garage burglary occurred in the 18000 block of Annes Circle between Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. The garage was pulled open. A laptop and wallet were stolen from a locked vehicle inside the garage.

A commercial burglary occurred at Mitchell Elementary School between Friday, April 19, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. and Monday, April 22, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. No forced entry was found and a MacBook and projector were stolen from the classrooms.

A petty theft occurred in the 18300 block of Soledad Canyon Road between Friday, April 5, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. and Monday, April 15, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. Tools were stolen from the maintenance golf cart. A shoplifting occurred at the Boot Barn Store. The suspect walked out of the store without paying for several items.

A grand theft occurred in the 18000 block of Saratoga Way. The victim purchased a vehicle under false pretenses.

Eight arrests were made by proactive deputies for various narcotics violations, assaults and public intoxication.

There has been in increase in residential and garage burglaries where items are being stolen from vehicles that are parked in the garage, unlocked in some cases. ALWAYS lock your windows, garage doors and make sure to also lock your vehicles.

Make sure to always park in well-lit areas and be cognizant of your surroundings. If you see any suspicious activity either close to your home or while you are out shopping, call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
