Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information
Snapshot for 06/24/13 through 06/30/13
This past week Newhall (Zone 6) saw four part one crimes. Of those crimes, Newhall had one grand theft auto, one residential burglary, one vehicle burglary, and one rape reported.
Although a rape was reported this week, it was alleged to have occurred back in January of the year 2000. LASD Special Victims Bureau is investigating the incident.
A 1999 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the area of 5th Street and Race Street in Newhall.
A residential burglary was reported from the 24800 block of Parchman Drive in Newhall. An unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s attached garage and stole a bicycle. Entry and exit was made via the unlocked side garage door (ref – 08594).
A vehicle burglary was reported from the 23600 block of Meadowridge Drive in Newhall. Stereo equipment, a laptop computer, and sunglasses were among the items stolen from inside the vehicle.
Included in this message is a photo of myself and Sgt. Harris on our T3’s. We’re able to go in and out of the paseos and bike paths and into residential neighborhoods much more efficiently while on patrol. And, because it’s an electric, clean-energy vehicle that’s silent, people don’t always see or hear us patrolling. Please take the time to report suspicious and / or criminal activity especially during the summer months. We use input and information from the public we serve to deploy the T3’s accordingly.
Have a happy and safe fourth of July.
