The Hart School District is hosting a SCV School and Community Violence Prevention Forum on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Valencia High School Theater. The free forum is open to parents, teachers, staff and community members and includes presentations by several experts and a question and answer segment with a local panel including law enforcement officials.
The question frequently on the minds of parents, teachers and community members is “What If?” following the recent incidents of school violence nationwide.
This informative forum features two experts, Prince, consultant to the FBI and recognized expert in threat assessment and Dr. Tony Beliz, deputy director of emergency outreach for L.A. County Mental Health Department.
The keynote addresses will look into what if this type of violence happened at a school in the Santa Clarita Valley, how our schools, law enforcement, mental health practitioners and citizens will react and what proactive steps are being taken to prevent this violence from occurring in the Santa Clarita Valley.
All parents of K-12 students throughout the SCV are encouraged to attend. No RSVP required.
Contact Kathy Hunter, Director of Student Services, khunter@hartdistrict.org, if you have any questions. This event is open to the general public.
