UPDATE: The 34-year-old motorcyclist who was reportedly killed in a collision in Canyon Country Thursday has been identified as Kenneth George Burt Jr., said Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.
[KHTS] – A motorcyclist was killed Thursday evening in a Canyon Country crash.
Two people were transported to the hospital as the result of a traffic collision reported in Canyon Country at about 7:40 p.m.
The crash took place in the 17000 block of Soledad Canyon Road, near Lost Canyon Road, said Supervisor Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Soledad Canyon Road, east of Canyon Country Park, at a high rate of speed, collided into the rear end of a vehicle traveling in the same direction, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.
The motorcyclist, who was identified by Sheriff’s Station officials only as a 33-year-old man, was ejected from the bike and sustained critical injuries.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials investigated the crash for several hours, rerouting traffic in the area.
No arrests were made, according to Sgt. Curran of the Sheriff’s Station.
Fire Department officials dispatched paramedics to the scene, which is being investigated by Sheriff’s Station deputies.
The vehicle versus motorcycle crash closed down Soledad Canyon Road from Lost Canyon to Sand Canyon while deputies look into the cause of the crash.
“Two were transported to the hospital,” said Supervisor Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“One required a paramedic follow up,” Pittman said, adding “(injuries) where the paramedics follow in the ambulance is usually a little more serious.”
The victim’s name was not available.
The crash is being investigated by Detective Travis Kelly of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Unit.
Anyone with information about the crash is being asked to call the station at 661-255-1121.
