Snapshot 07/21/2014 – 07/27/2014

A robbery occurred near Sierra Hwy/Sand Canyon Road. Four males approached the victim near an apartment complex and assaulted the victim. The suspects robbed the victim of his cell phone and wallet.

A rape occurred at a business near the 18000 block of Sierra Hwy. The victim and suspect went to the back of the business and the suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The victim was able to push away from the suspect and get away from suspect. The suspect was later arrested.

A grand theft occurred neat the 29000 block of Mammoth Lane. The incident occurred between 03/14/14-07/11/14. The suspect stole 6 necklaces worth $15,000.00. The victim had a company in his house fixing water damage over the listed time frame.

A residential burglary occurred near the 29000 Sequoia Rd.  The suspects broke the front window to make entry into the house. Suspects stole tax returns and several handguns from the location.

There was a burglary reported at Pinetree Elementary School. The thieves broke into the administration building and stole several iPads and school supplies. This incident is being investigated by Santa Clarita Station COBRA detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 17000 block of Dove Willow St.  A male black suspect pried open a kitchen window and made entry. The suspect stole a wedding ring. The home owner confronted the suspect. The suspect threw keys at victim and ran from location.

Here are some tips to help your house become less attractive to thieves.

Make your home look occupied, and make it difficult to break in.

Lock all outside doors and windows before you leave the house or go to bed. Even if it is for a short time, lock your doors.

Leave lights on when you go out. If you are going to be away for a length of time, connect some lamps to automatic timers to turn them on in the evening and off during the day.

Keep your garage door closed and locked.

Don’t allow daily deliveries of mail, newspapers or flyers build up while you are away. Arrange with the Post Office to hold your mail, or arrange for a friend or neighbor to take them regularly.

Arrange for your lawn to be mowed if you are going away for an extended time.

Check your locks on doors and windows and replace them with secure devices as necessary.

Pushbutton locks on doorknobs are easy for burglars to open. Install deadbolt locks on all your outside doors.

Sliding glass doors are vulnerable. Special locks are available for better security.

Other windows may need better locks. Check with a locksmith or hardware store for alternatives.

  10. Wow, sounds like SCV is going downhill! I thought the crime was very low in that area! Wrong!!!

  11. Scv isn’t what it used to be 15 years ago and that’s sad :(

  12. Canyon country isn’t all SCV!!! There is crime everywhere.

  13. Location location location!

  14. Tory Miron Tory Miron says:

There is a little apartment complex on the street where the restaurant was right before sand canyon was it there??

  15. Lorena Garay Lorena Garay says:

I think they are talking about the apts by yoshinoya maybe?? Moving soon im tired of this area – all these cholos and drugged up people walking around like zombies!

  16. Pick up the homeless on drugs and alcohol, and gather up the gang members in apts on jakes way. Pick the illegals and by the way do the same in old newhall and Valencia. That’s the problem. Also stop bussing in kids to our high schools. Ck out golden valley for example. If they were going to Valencia high or the one in Stevenson ranch, it would stop!! Who’s paying off our sheriffs to ignore all these easy to see problems. I’m a 47 yr resident so I see the difference and it’s sad and dangerous!

  17. Michael says:

I live in Fair Oaks Ranch / Canyon Country. My house was also broken into and my dad’s guns were stolen. I live next to Dove Willow. So 2 days ago, i bought another handgun, just in case. It’s a crazy world out here now. I miss when SCV use to be so nice and calm.

  18. The 1800 block is by the American beauty townhouses near the Elks lodge off of Sierra..
