[KHTS] – Hart district officials remained tight-lipped Thursday about their investigation into allegations against former Valencia High baseball head coach Jared Snyder.
“Jared Snyder continues to be on administrative leave,” said Gail Pinsker, Hart district spokeswoman. “The concerns discussed last semester are still under review by the district.”
Snyder, Valencia High’s head baseball coach for the last 16 years until a midseason change, took a leave of absence in March as district officials conducted an investigation into a parental complaint.
An initial investigation into a parent’s accusation that there was a misappropriation of funds revealed there might be evidence to support the allegation, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation. However, law enforcement officials have not been involved in the situation, and no charges or investigation by law enforcement officials has been initiated.
Snyder is still on the district’s payroll while the investigation is underway, Pinsker said.
Interest in the situation was renewed by parents who saw Snyder’s name on their child’s class schedule and expressed concern, contacting KHTS AM-1220 this week.
Melissa Fanfassian, of Valencia, said she asked her daughter to transfer to a different history course when she learned he was the listed instructor.
“I didnt want to take the risk of that guy teaching my daughter,” said Fanfassian, who added she already a son who had taken Snyder’s history class.
A district official confirmed Snyder’s name did appear on the schedules, but did not say if he would be returning to the classroom.
“Mr. Snyder is listed as a teacher on student class schedules,” Pinsker said, “however, a substitute teacher will be handling his classes as we begin the new school year on Aug. 14.”
Mike Killinger, a former assistant of Snyder’s, was hired as head baseball coach in May.
Snyder was hired as the school’s baseball coach in 1998, according to school officials.
“Snyder, a Nichols State alumnus (1993), has built Valencia into one of the perennial powers in Southern California,” according to information on the school’s site before the coaching change. “He has taken probably one of the worst facilities in California and turned it into one of the top in the nation.”

Paid vacation?
It’s called a cover up … Otherwise they would just say what happened .. Schools do this all the time
Innocent until proven guilty.. Don’t assume anything…
I had Snyder for history and he was an amazing teacher and person!!! He was always there for all of us. That’s an ignorant comment for someone to make. I understand parents want the best for there children but I don’t see what an alleged scandal having to do with baseball would warrant someone not wanting him to teach there child. Any kid out there would be lucky to have him as a teacher!
I remember Snyder humiliating many students inclass all the time. Never liked him.
Or maybe the school and district want to make sure they get their facts straight first so that they don’t later face a lawsuit? If you were being investigated I’m sure you’d want as much. And legally there is only so much people are allowed to say when there is an investigation pending. But, yeah, let’s go with the conspiracy theories…big “cover up”… Schools do this “all the time.”
So…. What’d he do?
Alleged misappropriation of funds. Sad if it’s unfounded because that’s a very serious accusation. :/
Mr. Syder was hands down was my favorite teacher in high school. Was he tough yes, did he demand respect in his class, definitely. Did he allow attention hungry class clown students disrupt the lesson, absolutely not. I looked up to him and respected him greatly.
Alleged misappropriation of funds.
He’s what most kids need in life…someone that will and has always expected his students to be the best, give respect and give no excuses. But I can see where parents with their own excuses would complain about a teacher having to raise their kids too. I have personally seen and experienced how hard he worked to turn that entire program right side up…including busting his ass to call on friends and contacts to help him give them a great looking place to play. Sure, he might not have the soft approach but he has done a great job!
He is the best coach in this valley has been and always will be.
I have known Jared for the better part of my life trust him with my life, I also know that he took the worst school and changed it to the best school.
Worst teacher EVER. He was such a cocky jerk.
Arrogant jerk!
