stift3Warrior Fitness Camp officials are holding two commemoration workouts and a candelight vigil in honor of Jennifer Stift, the 17-year-old Saugus High School student who was struck and killed by a vehicle while jogging on Golden Valley Road on Monday.

The Saugus High Associated Student Body also is holding a candelight vigil for Stift at the Saugus quad Wednesday at 8 p.m., according to a tweet by Saugus ASB.

The Warrior Fitness workouts are scheduled for 7:30 and 9 a.m. and the vigil is set for 8 p.m. at the gym on Sunday.

“It’s never easy when you lose a daughter, a friend and a sister,” said Tchicaya Missamou, the gym’s owner. “But we know that she was a warrior. She loved to exercise and her whole family is part of this gym… We know two families are going to be affected forever– the teenager that hit her and the Stift family. That’s the reason why we’re doing this, to bring everyone together and to celebrate life… We never leave a man behind. We can come together during hard times because that is what we do.”

Attendees are asked to donate $10 to participate in the workouts, and all proceeds will be given to the Stift family to help alleviate funeral expenses, gym officials said.

However, if residents are unable to make a donation they are still asked to attend in support of the Stift family.

California Highway Patrol officers are still investigating the fatal crash, which occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday near Golden Valley Road and Samantha Court.

Stift was jogging westbound when she was struck by a 1989 Toyota Celica traveling southbound on Golden Valley Road, said CHP Officer John Lutz.

The driver of the vehicle is also 17 years old, and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to CHP officials.

A senior at Saugus High, Stift was a member of the swim team and theater class.

The Warrior Fitness Camp commemoration workouts and candelight vigil are all set to take place at the Warrior Fitness Camp, located at 26306 Diamond Place, Suite 150, in Santa Clarita.
