1928 - Little dam victim, thought unidentified & buried in SCV, actually ID'd & buried in Chatsworth [story]
Newhall Cowboys

LASD_Badge[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials have identified the two persons of interest who appear in “selfies” that the victim of a residential burglary found in late July.

The detectives asked for the public’s assistance to identify the people pictured in the press release to help aid in locating the individuals in order for detectives to speak with them to “further the residential burglary investigation.”

“We appreciate the public and media attention gained through sharing information about the persons of interest,” law enforcement officials said in a statement. “As a result, the male person of interest in the photo reached out to the sheriff’s department, identified himself, and is cooperating with the handling detective working this case. The female person of interest was also identified with the public’s help.”

Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a residential burglary on July 20 in Newhall where cash, electronics and other personal property were reportedly stolen, according to a previous KHTS AM 1220 story.

“No suspects have been identified at this time,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The burglary victim noticed “selfies” of people she was did not know on her “cloud” a couple days after the incident.

A cloud is a personal online database account that allows individuals to store information such as digital photographs, videos or music.

  1. We CAN help law enforcement by being their ‘eyes & ears’…

  2. When Social Media goes horribly wrong! How embarrassing for the two people in the “selfie” to have to be associated with a robbery!! How about you rule out if they are or aren’t a suspect FIRST before you plaster their faces all over Facebook and especially the city in which they reside. Sad!

    • The two people in the photos that were released by the Sheriff’s Department Wednesday were named “people of interest”, not suspects.

Social media is not horrible. This women who got her house broken into and personal items stolen sees pictures of people she doesn’t know on her cloud. Of course they want to find who the hell these people are. Put yourself in her shoes how would you feel if you got robbed and found this. You’d be pretty greatful for social media now wouldn’t you?

    • Love Doris Love Doris says:

Starr Convery, if people were to rob your home you best believe you would want to blast their faces if they left any evidence. Dont talk unless you walk a mile in the shoes of the victim. In this case the homeowner.

    • True I would like to know who the heck they r but not make it public on Facebook imagine it was you .. You’ll be angry

    • The bottom line is, it’s absolutely humiliating to have your name and face plastered across social media in a negative connotation. These people were wanted for questioning to a robbery! The last I checked that is A HUGE deal! No one knows the ramifications to having their faces associated with such an incident! It’s sad because they are so young! Think if it were you or one of your kids that’s all I am saying!

    • Love Doris Madison Rae If they were GUILTY or named as suspects then of course it would be a great tool! However THEY were just as innocent as the victims in this circumstance. Don’t you get it?! They clearly had nothing to do with this crime yet their identities were plastered all over the place. If it were you or one of your teenage kids I am sure you would be outraged!

    • Madison Rae Madison Rae says:

First off they were asked for questioning because they were linked to this. They are the link to find out who actually did this (if their story is the truth) on the other hand if my kid were to do this this is what they get. It says in the article they were asked for questioning in relation to a robbery. Not our fault they kept the phone linked to the victims of the robbery

    • With all due respect ma’am Madison Rae you sound extremely irrational. You’re assuming they are linked when in fact the cops have cleared them of ALL wrong doing. The photos went viral (throughout the entire county of Los Angeles and beyond) and as I stated earlier there is absolutely no telling what type of ramifications this could have on their future due to being associated with such a terrible crime! This could hurt potential career possibilities, college acceptance, scholarship acceptances etc not to mention how they may now be perceived in their own community. I hope that in the future they can do a little more research before publicly humiliating innocent parties. With all that said I hope they catch the idiots that did this!! I also pray for peace for all parties involved.

    • These people had an item that was part of a robbery. They were the only known link to the crime. If the sheriff’s Dept did not release the photos, they would not have been doing there jobs correctly. How would you move forward, if you had no other way of identifying possible suspects?

    • Scott Evans Scott Evans says:

Dimes to doughnuts that the pictured couple bought the stolen phone. Craigslist perhaps?

    • David Wayne White you have a very valid point and I agree. I guess my point is I would have liked to see the department use a little more discretion when posting photographs of people on the world wide web who were only wanted for questioning. It sucks because the only thing this guy is guilty of was looking for a good deal at the swap meet. But I definitely agree they were only doing their job. As I said I hope the real perpetrators are caught!

  3. James Parker James Parker says:

I don’t see where it ever said they were suspects. It says they were wanted for questioning. And they were.

  4. I think SCVTV owes this couple an apology for misleading and lack of . I’m sorry that I called you both idiots.

  5. How could they not be suspect? Their faces are connected to stolen items….

  6. Kim Sloan Kim Sloan says:

Thank you LACS Dept. and SCVtv for helping in the investigation. Our communities are strong, and helping each other is what we all can do on the internet.

  7. I would never buy an electronic device, sports equipment, video games etc at a swap meet. It seems it would be an ideal place to unload stolen property quickly and easily for cash. While I appreciate not all of it is for sure, it just seems like there’s a pretty good chance it could be. I don’t think they had any choice not to publish the photos and I never saw any agency identify them as suspects. It’s awesome he came forward to assist.

  8. They are guilty. They just made up that story. Who buys a phone at the swap meet? They probably bought it from a friend who they don’t want to turn in.

  9. Lorena Garay Lorena Garay says:

Im sorry i don’t believe them. Read carefully how they’re helping detectives with the case = they know something. They ain’t no angels.

  10. Madison Rae Madison Rae says:

  11. Love Doris Love Doris says:

Cynthia Macias is witless with ignoramus malfunction.

  12. I don’t think the police did anything wrong. The person of interest came forward and if he’s innocent then it’s a step closer to finding the thief.

  13. Well, as far as I know. . . It is not exactly being innocent and a good citizen to recieve stollen property – apologize for what/more like whatever- you only appologize when?-
Never a dull moment here in SCV!

Thanks SCV Sherrifs department for keeping things /well, ongoing..best of Lucknow

    Damned if you do
    Damned if you don’t

I didn’t hear this type of complaining when the Twitter for a minor was posted and travelin’ around- simple it is hard to say and do the right thing-needless to say we all jump to the media, thanks Ben Franklin, sorry we are using it for most of the wrong reasons. Selfishness maybe we should all be a little self less …the moral of the story line don’ t get caught with your selfie on!
    :-D
