[KHTS] A varsity soccer coach for West Ranch High School was arrested on a DUI charge Sunday, officials said Thursday.
Fausto Arana, 45, was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies on on Aug. 24 at 2:45 a.m. but was released the same day at 3:30 p.m., according to arrest records.
“It still has to go through the process, he was cited but there is a legal process,” Gail Pinkser, spokeswoman for the William S. Hart Union High School District.
“He’s not a teacher and does not hold any other position with the District above being a ‘walk-on’ coach,” Pinsker said. “He had to apply (for the position) and go through a strict background check and fingerprinting as does all of our staff at the Hart District.”
Pinsker could not release any information about actions Hart District officials may take.
Arana has coached several teams in the Santa Clarita for several years. He has coached for College of the Canyons, Golden Valley High School, Saugus High School and the Futbol Club Santa Clarita Storm professional team, according to the FC Valencia website.
