The Master’s College volleyball team took little time off over the Labor Day weekend as the squad competed in the 2014 Asics/Wyndham Labor Day Classic. On Friday, the Lady Mustangs overcame Montana Tech and La Sierra University, while on Saturday, the squad is slated to take on Menlo College and Montana-based University of Great Falls.

Kicking things off at 10:00 AM, the Lady Mustangs found themselves in a hole when they were trailing the Orediggers after two sets (25-19, 25-21).
TMC turned things around in the third set when they established a commanding control over Montana Tech, taking the frame with a close 26-24 victory after posting 16 kills and a .423 attack percentage.
The Lady Mustangs battled through a close fourth set by overcoming four ties, finishing the frame with a 25-20 win.
Set five was all TMC as the Lady Mustangs led the Orediggers the entire match, finishing things off with a 15-7 victory.
Ashley Kuhlman (Henderson, NV) led TMC with 18 kills, while Aubrey Bekendam (Orland, CA) posted 10. Bekendam tallied 44 assists, while Emily Clark (Lake Forest, CA) put up 18 digs.
With the win, the Lady Mustangs raise their winning percentage above .500 by minting a 4-3 overall record. Notably, it is the first time in the 2014 season that the Lady Mustangs have posted a wining record.
Next up for TMC is a 4:00 PM match against La Sierra University.

The Lady Mustangs took to the court Friday afternoon for their nightcap against La Sierra University. After three sets (25-16, 30-28, 25-16), TMC ousted the Golden Eagles, raising its 2014 record to 5-3.
After a quick first set where TMC never once gave LSU a lead, the Golden Eagles fought back in the second frame forcing the Lady Mustangs to battle for their 30-28 victory. In set three, La Sierra mirrored its performance in the first set by only posting 16 points.
Collectively, Bekendam led TMC with a team-high nine kills and 24 assists, while Clark posted 14 digs.
On Saturday, TMC is slated to take on Menlo College at 10:00 AM and Montana-based University of Great Falls at 4:00 PM.
