The City of Santa Clarita is excited to welcome back the Santa Clarita Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 2. The racing events will include a marathon and a half marathon, presented by Parkway Motorcars, a 5K run presented by Boston Scientific, a two-person marathon relay, the Mayor’s Walk presented by The Walking Company, and a Kid K fun run presented by Sunpower by Green Convergence.
All races will begin at 7:00 a.m., with the exception of the Kid K beginning at 8:30 a.m. All events will start at the Hyatt Regency Valencia, located at 24500 Town Center Drive.
The City’s marathon is USA Track & Field certified and an official qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. The Santa Clarita Marathon is designed to test the physical boundaries of the human body while promoting health and fitness among residents.
“We are thrilled to welcome the return of one of Southern California’s best running events, the Santa Clarita Marathon,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “Whether residents choose to run the full marathon or join me on the Mayor’s Walk, this year’s event promises to be an electrifying experience and fun for the whole family.”
To kick off the event, the City will also host a pre-race Health and Fitness Expo presented by Boston Scientific on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. The free Expo will feature various health-related vendors and information booths. Participants will be able to register for all race events, and pick up bib numbers, timing chips and T-shirts.
To participate in the Santa Clarita Marathon or other race events, community members can register online at scmarathon.org or in person at the Health and Fitness Expo. Participants who register online will save $10 on processing fees. Same-day registration will not be offered on the day of the race.
