The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles its final score under the Section Eight Management Assessment Program. Scoring a total of 140 points out of a possible 145 points, HACoLA received an overall performance rating of High Performer, the Department’s top designation.
HUD uses the SEMAP measurement to evaluate the performance of Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) that administer the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program based on 14 performance indicators. These indicators assess whether PHAs administer the program in accordance with Federal housing legislation and HUD regulations. Using a point system to evaluate each indicator, a PHA earning between 130 to 145 points is considered a High Performer. PHAs earning between 87 and 129 points earn a Standard Performer rating and anything below 87 earns a Troubled Performer rating.
“I am very proud of the accomplishments of the County’s Housing Authority. Receiving a High Performer rating for the past four years shows the commitment and dedication staff have to ensure the Section 8 program benefits County residents who are most in need,” said Don Knabe, Chairman of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
HACoLA administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program, currently assisting approximately 23,000 families through a partnership with over 13,000 property owners, while also managing 3,258 units of public and affordable housing located at 70 sites throughout the County.
