CLEVELAND, Ohio — At the conclusion of the 2014 Fall sports season, The Master’s College Mustangs rank ninth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup, the list of the nation’s best NAIA athletic programs. The NAIA currently has over 260 member institutions.
The Mustangs accumulated 172 points on the strength of placing ninth in women’s soccer, 13th in women’s cross country, and 18th in men’s cross country.
TMC’s current ranking is the second consecutive year that the Mustangs have established themselves in the top 10 at the end of the Fall sports season. Last year, The Master’s College achieved its highest ever Fall ranking coming in at seventh overall after tallying 191 points.
Notably, Mustang Athletics is the highest ranked program in the Golden State Athletic Conference. Three other GSAC institutions are positioned in the top 30, with Vanguard (13), Biola (22) and Westmont (27), supporting the notion that the GSAC is among the premier conferences in the NAIA.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 12 sports — six women’s and six men’s.
Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA’s website atwww.directorscup.org. In addition, please visit www.thedirectorscup.com, like them on Facebook at facebook.com/lsdirectorscup or follow them on Twitter @lsdirectorscup.
The vision of Mustang Athletics is to support the mission of the The Master’s College by investing in a tradition of quality athletics while guiding students to be stewards of the opportunity to excel academically and spiritually as a follower of Christ.
