If you could use some comic relief – and who can’t? – the Canyon Theatre Guild has just the ticket. Billed as a “riotously funny Southern-fried comedy,” the play is titled “The Red Velvet Cake War.”
It follows the misadventures of three cousins from Texas who try to get their families together for a big reunion. But everything goes south on them. And it’s the middle of tornado season, no less.
Catch “The Red Velvet Cake War” at the CTG on Main Street in Old Town Newhall Friday and Saturday nights at 8. For more info and tickets, call 661-799-2702.
Saturday at Valencia Wine Company on Town Center Drive, The Snareheads are tuned up for their first rock ’n’ soul dance party of the year. Showtime is at 9 p.m. and they’ll play a few sets before closing time. There’s no cover. Call 661-254-9300 for more details.
And Saturday night on SCVTV’s “House Blend” show hosted by yours truly, we’re presenting the premiere of a special edition starring award-winning singer and songwriter Marie Wise-Hawkins.
Marie and her band are fresh off the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, where they placed in the Top 5 bands in the USA at the national Country Showdown competition. And on one special song, Marie duets with “House Blend” alum John Stratton on a new song they wrote. That’s “House Blend” at 10 p.m. on SCVTV and streaming everywhere at SCVTV.com.
