About Jill Hackett
Jill is a graduate of Ball State University and until recently, her artistic endeavors were solely in music. She is co-founder of the Santa Clarita Master Chorale and still assists the Artistic Director with programming for the group.
An Indiana native, she and her husband have lived in California for over 36 years and in Valencia for the last twenty-three. They also maintain a home in Pine Mountain Club.
Jill turned to pastels to create her art because of its beautiful luminosity and also because it is so tactile and intimate – nothing comes between the artist and the working surface.
Jill Hackett has studied pastel with Loraine Veeck for the past four years and has also studied with internationally acclaimed pastelist, Stephanie Birdsall at her Tucson studio, as well as at the Scottsdale Artist’s School. She has won gold and silver medals in Santa Clarita Art Association’s annual ‘Art Classic’ and was recently awarded a Masters status with the SCAA. Private collectors nationwide own her work.
