SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Master’s College men’s track & field team raced against world-class athletes at San Diego State University in the 2015 Aztec Invitational.
First off, in the 400-meter dash, Andrew Sanchez won his heat in 49.54 seconds, earning a third-place finish overall. Sanchez went on to post a new school record and personal best in the 200-meter, finishing with a time of 22.75 seconds. Sam Jaimes also earned a personal best in the 200-meter with a time of 23.31.
In the 100-meter dash, Jaimes finished the race in 11.43 seconds, winning his heat, earning another personal best, and posting a new school record.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Winston Provost brought in a best time of 9:50, improving by eight seconds from his debut at the Occidental Invitational two weeks ago.
Andrew Orona made his collegiate debut in the 5000-meter event by posting a fantastic time of 15:08. Head coach Zach Schroeder sees Orona making serious efforts to qualify under the NAIA’s A-standard in the coming weeks.
Next week, the Mustangs travel to Claremont for the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational where they look forward to a fun and competitive meet.
