As the internet enters a new era, organizations of all sizes have begun to migrate various services to the cloud. This necessary migration and the resulting utilization of additional bandwidth is colliding with existing infrastructure issues in our valley and must be resolved. Business users are experiencing “internet gridlock”, discovering their VoIP phones don’t work during certain hours of the day, and their internet connections don’t deliver enough bandwidth to do regular business.
Cloud computing, as it has become commonly known, simply refers to the usage of a remote network of servers to manage critical business processes. In addition to bandwidth issues, as more and more software moves towards the cloud this also raises fundamental security concerns which we hope to touch on as well. Our hope is to continue the efforts of others in the community to keep these two issues, Internet Speed and Emerging Technologies, at the forefront.
