The College of the Canyons men’s golf team finished in first place once again on Monday, this time playing in Western State Conference (WSC) Tournament No. 9 at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura.
COC turned in a team score of 362 to finish six strokes ahead of second place finisher Glendale College. Ventura College shot a 371 to finish in third place while Santa Barbara City College, the conference’s second place team, settled for fourth place at 379.
Citrus (384), Hancock (392), Antelope Valley (397) and Bakersfield College (397) rounded out the field.
COC freshman Will Mullins, one of just three golfers to shoot under par, led the Cougars with a score of 69 to top the rest of the field.
Fellow freshman Matt Murray finished with a score of 72 and sophomores Eric Kim and Braden Lewis each tallied scores of 73. Noa Yap shot a 75.
Canyons currently sits in first place in the WSC, with a commanding lead over second place Santa Barbara, having won seven of the season nine conference tourneys.
The Cougars have also won five consecutive conference championships (2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010).
Canyons will return to action during next week’s WSC Championships being played at Antelope Valley Country Club on Monday, April 27.
