SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—The Master’s College women’s track & field team competed Friday and Saturday at the Golden State Athletic Conference Championships at Westmont College.
On Friday, Abigail Frankian and Rachael Ingoldsby finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 11 minutes and 39.20 seconds and 11:58.98 in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Later that day, Karis Frankian and Charity Schroeder offered exciting efforts in the 10,000-meter run. Frankian nabbed the GSAC title with a blazing time of 36:27.57, more than a minute and a half ahead of the competition. Schroeder joined Frankian in All-Conference honors after placing second with a personal best time of 38:02.26. Schroeder also recorded the second-fastest time in women’s program history, surpassed only by Frankian.
Starting Saturday in the field events, Ellie Kindlund wrote the first triple jump marks into TMC’s record book with a 9.52m jump. Tess Thompson upped her school record to 1.45m in the high jump, placing seventh in conference.
Karis Frankian returned to win the 5000-meter Saturday afternoon, finishing in an impressive time of 17:25.28. With this victory, she accomplished the impressive feat of taking the conference title in both the 5k and 10k in her freshman, sophomore, and junior years.
Overall, TMC tied for sixth out of the eight competing GSAC teams with 37 points.
Looking forward, several athletes will compete at the Oxy Invitational on Saturday, May 9, at Occidental College in Eagle Rock.
