[KHTS] – The National Day of Prayer is an annual event held on the first Thursday of May; with the theme “Lord, Hear Our Cry,” the 64th annual National Day of Prayer will be happening Thursday, May 7, 2015.
This day was established by a joint resolution of the United States Congress in 1952 and was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. President Obama is expected to issue a proclamation in honor of this day.
The Santa Clarita Valley Interfaith Council invites the community to it’s annual Interfaith National of Prayer Call to Action Event on Thursday, May 7 at Todd Longshore Park from 8-9 p.m.
Anyone is welcome, according to event; the focus of the event this year is to bring people together with their similarities and to not argue about their faith.
This event encourages people of all faiths to remember their origins, respect the natural resources and renew the commitment to future generations.
Rev. Kelly, a local clergy from St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, will lead the event in prayer and Tyler White, president of the Santa Clarita Interfaith Council, will guide the candle lighting ceremony.
