The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, continues in June with its fourth installment of the 2015 season. Main Street in Old Town Newhall will come to life each Thursday evening with a variety of things to see, including a ceramic art display, West African dance and drums performances, a custom and classic motorcycles show, a Vegas-inspired block party, an appearance by author Melissa Shepherd and a performance by Miss Devon & The Outlaw.
From 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, ArtSLAM will feature Katherine Ridder and Charles Singer of CASI Ceramic Artist Studio, Inc. with live potter’s wheel and hand building demos. There will also be several other mediums of work on display from local and regional artists.
At 7:30 p.m. participants can take part in JAM Sessions, hosted by Ford Theatre Foundation, as Yeko Ladzekpo-Cole leads an energetic African Dance and Drums night per the traditions of the Ewe and Dagomba people of Ghana.
Revved Up from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, will feature custom Choppers, custom Harleys and classic motorcycles such as Bonneville, Indian Chief and Norton Commando. The event will also include music, food trucks and adult beverages. Local residents interested in submitting an automobile for consideration in Revved Up can apply online or contact the City’s Arts and Events office at aeo@santa-clarita.com.
SENSES returns from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, when Main Street is closed down for a “Let it Ride” Vegas-inspired block party. The evening will feature classic rock hits from After Party, gaming tables, magic performances and specialty adult beverages.
The June lineup of Thursday@Newhall events finishes on Thursday, June 25 with the ARTree Speaker Series, presented in partnership with the CalArts Community Arts Partnership and the City of Santa Clarita, and SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series.
From 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the ARTree Speaker Series will feature author and counselor Melissa Shepherd at the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street. Shepherd will share tools for taking charge of body, mind and spirit to help individuals and organizations turn productivity into joyful experiences.
Meanwhile, SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series with 2013 and 2014 Western Group Association Duo/Group of the Year Miss Devon and the Outlaw, with special guests Kristyn Harris and Brook Wallace, beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the Repertory East Playhouse located at 24266 Main Street.
