They come up from the SF valley. My mom had this happen at TJMAXX a few years ago, they went back to SFV and tried to buy a car with her ID. They know we feel safe up here, makes for easy targets.
I just posted this:
My co-worker was walking on Valencia Blvd this morning around 9:00am near City Hall (across from the police station) when two men came up from behind her, shoved her to the ground and stole her purse. They then jumped into a waiting BMW with 2 people inside and fled. Luckily there was a bit of traffic at the time and a witness got a picture of the car and license plate. The police said the same people did this to two other people this morning in Newhall. The car is registered in North Hollywood. The people tried to charge $350 on my friends credit card at Foot Locker and small amounts at other various places. My friend is ok, but very shaken up and scared. Always be aware of your surroundings. Who would think this would happen in broad daylight across the street from the police station!!!?? Crazy!! Be careful out there!!!
Thank you for sharing.
Hope your friend gets to see these guys arrested and prosecuted for this.
Sucks all this bad people coming to our town bs
What’s valencia coming to?? I hear its a very rough town! I wouldn’t drive out there @ night!!

Sorry to be smug, but this is Awesometown!
Seriously tho, keep aware of your surroundings, hold on to your possessions tightly, and yell! when your attacked to attract attention. But if possible, don’t walk alone.
Disappointing, usually one would feel safe near a police station.
Being that these thieves were from out of town they may not have even been aware or noticed that they were across from a police station. They were probably just searching for victims.
The 2 incidents were perpetrated by people not from this town. 1 was from North Hollywood and the other was from AZ. Although the sheriff department definitely needs to step up their game and make their presence visible.

We need more police on our streets. If SCV was saturated with PD presence these people would never get away!
Well that and repeal the prop 47 decision to let these fools out of jail!
