  1. It looks like he is with someone

  2. That is 500$ worth of stuff? ,

  3. Looks more like 20$ worth of stuff what is that cake ? A book? And bread ? lol

  4. Eric Baker Eric Baker says:

That’s $500. worth of stuff? Must have been Haggen’s….

  5. This is news? 1st of all it happened on August 1st and 2nd it was a grocery store. If it was truly $500 worth of stuff it was most likely food. He didn’t hurt anyone, unless I missed that part of the story. Stealing is wrong, but I’m sure he wouldn’t have stolen food if he had funds to purchase it.

    • 1st Obviously this pic was taken prior to the cart being filled with all the merchandise. 2nd It does hurt everyone cuz prices are driven up by this type of theft. And finally there are plenty of programs that can assist those who truly need …food etc. don’t make excuses for criminals…

    • She’s not making excuses. . She is saying it like it is.. $500 is the magic number that turns a misdemeanor into a felony… THAT HURT US MORE!!!! The cost of prosecution for a misdemeanor vs a felony is alot…. The grocery stores throw food away beyond the selling date… that should be a crime in itself. How sad that we have people hungry for food in America and chain stores throw away TONS!!! you should get off your high horse and live in reality with the rest of us.

    • Michelle Kinsfather-Choy
Who is making excuses? Have you ever tried to get emergency assistance? Years ago I was laid-off from my job, I went to get assistance and I was told I made to much money on unemployment to get assistance, even though it wasn’t even enough to pay my bills. Thank god that someone like you, can sit back and judge from your comfort. I know what it is like to need to feed kids and not know where to go. Luckily I never had to get to the point the guy above did. That being said I stated above that “it is wrong to steal” but I feel that the police have bigger fish to go after than this guy. Finally how much do you feel that $500 will add to the thousands of dollars worth of food thrown out daily due to it reaching a sell by date? Catherine Seide is correct about the amount of wasted food thrown out.
I seriously doubt that it was $500 dollars worth of food even when the basket was full. Obviously we all know that the picture was prior to the basket being full. Lol

    • What? Catherine you’re excusing a thief! First of all its against the law! Second, we are,I hope, a country of laws! Markets work on a very low % of profit.these losses are passed on to honest, hardworking customers. Also markets give food to food pantries and feed many low income people in this valley.i know,I’ve seen it. To feed a family, it doesn’t take $500.00 worth of food. He’s selling the stuff, bet on it!

    • Michael, job loss is a fact of life.being laid off, you should have gotten unemployment. How much did you save for this possibility. How big is your TV.?How much is your car payment? Life is harsh if you don’t plan for the unknown. How much do you justify stealing? It’s a crime.!

    • Gil Castro Gil Castro says:

He’s still a criminal. And people who pay for their food now have to pay higher costs because of idiots like this guy and people like you who victimize him. Morons

    • Cause unemployment pays so much. .. Again with the criminals.. If I make a 100k a year and get laid off unemployment caps at $425 a week… If that’s not criminal I don’t know what is. No wonder people steal for food…

    • Lucky you Shirley Vercelli that you have a savings. And the ability to plan. Most Americans are 2 paychecks away from being homeless. I never said he was in the right. If caught he should be prosecuted. But the fact remains that worrying about this guy is ridiculous. If our sheriff department doesn’t have anything more important to solve then that is awesome. But I’m sure they have bigger fish to fry than a guy who stole food. Don’t you dare judge me, I have a savings and had one when I was laid off. That doesn’t mean I was expecting to get laid off 8 years ago a week before Christmas. If your ability to read was better than your ability to judge, you would have read that I was turned down due to making to much on unemployment. I was part of an industry that was crushed by the economy and for your information, I was unemployed for long after my benefits ran out and what kept us afloat was my savings. We lived off of that for a year. All I said was let’s focus on the criminals that are actually hurting people.
Gil Castro, you’re right he is a criminal and if caught he should and will be prosecuted, that being said would you steal food if you had NO FOOD in the house and your kids needed to eat today? I guarantee you would. Worrying about the cost of food going up is asinine, I have a friend who is an executive for Safeway (they own Vons) and years ago he told me that they throw away millions of dollars in merchandise every year due to shelf life expiration. They right that amount off. As for your juvenile comment calling me a Moron, well you know what they say… right?

    • Well said Gil Castro, Shirley Vercelli. ?Catherine, I’m gonna get off my “high horse” now: take care of my two kids, pay my bills, pay my mortgage, go to the grocery store & BUY my overpriced groceries, all on a single income mmmkay. Or bcuz I’m so “entitled”, should I go ahead and steal my food? Because there’s A LOT of things I can’t afford to buy for my little boys. Are you ok with that? Now who wants to talk “judgmental” Michael & Catherine! #micdrop

    • Michelle Kinsfather-Choy you’re right “well said Gil” calling me a Moron. Hope you feel strong and proud to join the group that resorts to name calling. Go pay your bills Michelle, I have paid mine for years, it is a blessing right? I thank God daily for that blessing. Even when I was laid off God provided. How blessed I was and am today to have that ability. I guess that means I should put myself in a position to judge those less blessed than I. Bravo.
Just a heads up, I do not feel I am better than anyone due to my blessings and if this guy didn’t need to steal I hope they catch him. But that is not for me too judge.

    • You can still get help from food banks. You don’t have to steal and victimize others.

    • That is true. My friends daughter went to the food bank and was turned away due to the day of the month she showed up. And when she went back she was given expired food. My wife volunteers at help the children and they can only help so many. Again my comments are not to say this guy is innocent.

******HE IS GUILTY **** HE BROKE THE LAW ****
IF CAUGHT HE SHOULD GET PROSECUTED.
      that being said.
I still do not feel this is news worthy. If he robbed the store at gun point and escaped with $500, or $5,000 , then it is news worthy.

    • Tracee Lee Tracee Lee says:

Stealing is stealing! If you cant afford it…you arent entitled to it! Period!

    • Who are you preaching too, Tracee?

    • Tracee Lee
I have a question for you.
If you came home and your children were starving and you had no money, no credit, and no other options. Would you steal food to feed them? If you had no other options

    • I disagree people steal all the time (yes food) when they don’t need to resale of stolen items is huge business…..if he were hungry and needed to feed himself or family there are plenty of programs that help in addition to local food pantries. ….hope they catch him….you can thank him and others like him for the high cost of groceries

    • Like I said high horse man. ..

    • Sandy My mother works with the county to help families in need. she collaborates with local agencies to get food together for these families. If you take ALL the help you believe to be available, there are still families who wont qualify. Did you know if a FAMILY of 4 makes more than $900 in a month they do not qualify for the EBT cash aid program? That is a for a family of 4. Please do your due diligence before you state your facts from a seat that does not need the services. I see it, when ever I visit her office and it is full of families and she doesn’t have enough to give them. He may have stole for a different reason, but I think that by the fact that he had a vegetable platter in his basket he wasn’t stealing to resell or he would have most likely grabbed multiples of each product. I also want to know where this bread and vegetable platter black market exists. I have friends in many different stations in life and I have never heard of this grocery black market.

    • Seriously all you idiots going up against Michael Erickson better do your homework. . He knows his facts. .. stealing is stealing but the fact is the store is lieing I fill my cart full and at best my groceries are $380… and I buy name brand and convenient calorie packs. .

    • Michael Is probably a criminal himself. Thats why he is okay with this thief.
Wait till he comes to your door and wants more than just food we will see what you have to say then — idiot!

    • Wait are we still talking about this? Everyone give a round of applause for the late arrival Sandy.
Gotta love Sandy Zuchirani and HER keyboard courage.
Calling me names like a 2nd grader.
      You know what they say:
It takes one to know one. So Thank YOU for letting us know what you are.
By the way you must be illiterate too, since if you read almost every comment I have posted, I have said he should be prosecuted, I just don’t feel the story is news worthy since he stole food and didn’t hurt anyone. People steal food every day, but you don’t hear about it on the news.
You’re so smart to allow me to be your puppet master and force you to post ignorant comments on here.

  6. Kinda reminds me.of someone but I can’t put my finger on it.

  7. Derek Dean Derek Dean says:

THIS JUST IN: Some kid stole a birthday cake from one of three Wal-Marts in Santa Clarita… Alert the FBI and local media!!!

    • Right? Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this story is ridiculous and not newsworthy. Lol

    • Its news worthy when they move on to home invasions and your grocery bills get higher because of all the theft …..

    • Did you know the amount of loss experienced from theft is only a tiny of a fraction of the loss that comes from food that has to be discarded due to expiration dates? No excusing his actions at all. And if they catch him they should prosecute. But if you are worried about food prices than we should solve the bigger issue. Showing a picture of a guy in a hat won’t solve that.

    • You guys this isnt news! Its not here to be entertaining… seriously? Its to ask the community for their help identifying someone involved in a crime….

  8. AJ Ketchum AJ Ketchum says:

    That’s a ridiculous price for a 20 pack of Tostino’s.

  9. Forget that he stole the stuff how does he load up $500 worth of groceries and get away with it. No one noticed it till it was too late?

  10. Obviously they are not looking in pacoima. ….

  11. April Fiege April Fiege says:

    That’s $500 in groceries? LOL ;)

  12. Jason Lipman Jason Lipman says:

It’s food for God’s sake. There are way more criminals around then him. Get busy with the important one’s.

    • Oh, now blame God. That’s a stretch. He’s a thief. What’s with all those who make excuses for this thief. Who says he’s poor or Hungary, he’s stealing and God isn’t pleased either! If you are really concerned for this thief, go give money to a homeless charity. Like 500$s and then I can listen to your excuses more easily.?

    • Well one thing is for sure (just based on the comments here)
Jason Lipman is more deserving of God’s favor than Shirley lol But maybe she is an atheist. That may explain the judgements and lack of compassion.

    • Jason Lipman then go ahead and open up an invitation to your home then? Maybe dinner with your family.
After all this criminal all he wants is food right?
      Idiot!

  13. Marcus Magdaleno I was about to say the same thing with that hat on his head!

  14. Who cares if scv reports on this. Its something that affects us all. Just because its not about someone dying or the traffic caused by an accident doesnt mean its not still important to know whats going on in our community…

  15. I say we pitch in and pay he’s groceries its food people it’s food where did we leave our sympathy!!!!!

  16. Is that a Pirates hat? Now that’s a crime!

  17. Its news worthy when they move on to home invasions and your grocery bills get higher because of all the theft …..

  18. Has an iphone in his hand?!

  19. 16500 block of Soledad is Vons at Sand Cyn .. No wonder he made it out .. That store has the worst customer service and no one pays attention to u in there!

  20. Crystal Aguirre God bless the Santa Clarita Valley blog comments lol

  21. Ben Green Ben Green says:

The guy isn’t stealing your car or kidnapping anyone. No need to get the media involved. Slap him on the wrist and send him home if he’s caught

  22. I see 2 things. What is it? Black truffle ?

  23. Tracee Lee Tracee Lee says:

I hope they find him and throw him in jail!

  24. Easily could be 500.00 white strip get ripped off constantly along with men’s razor blades easy to hide and expensive usually between 50 and 80 ea for white strip booze another high theft item

  25. Rocio Garcia Rocio Garcia says:

It looks like rosted chiken hhahaanhah

  26. Richard says:

People that get into it and argue on these message boards are the REAL losers!! Get a life and find something productive to do, instead of type on your keyboard on a meaningless comment board. Man what is wrong with America these days. Social media has made a whole bunch of nobody’s feel like somebody. Shut up and get a life…please!!
