The College of the Canyons Body Mind Wellness Coalition will host its annual fall semester Community Resource Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the COC Honor Grove, located on the college’s Valencia campus.
The fair serves as a kick-off event for a series of free BMW personal health seminars being presented to students and community members throughout the fall semester.
Fair attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy free food, games and prizes, a student-organized fashion show, live music courtesy of 97.1 Amp Radio, along with access to information on topics related to overcoming challenges to body and mind wellness that may affect college students and community members alike.
“We want to connect people to these resources and let them know they are not alone,” said Sheri Barke, a sports and wellness dietician at the COC Student Health and Wellness Center and one of the event’s organizers.
In addition to the Annual Resource Fair, COC’s Body Mind Wellness Committee has teamed with the COC Student Health and Wellness Center to host a variety of seminars focused on other issues affecting physical and mental health including: suicide prevention, eating disorders and body image, social media usage, and issues specifically related to veterans.
