A man was killed in a crash on Interstate 5 near Highway 14 early Wednesday morning after the black Honda Civic he was driving collided with the rear end of a parked semi-truck.

According to California Highway Patrol public information officer, Sgt. Pack, the incident occurred on the northbound truck route near the I-5 and 14 freeway connector around 8:25 a.m.

“Newhall CHP were called to a collision on the northbound I-5 to 14 truck route. Upon arrival it was discovered that there was a two
vehicle collision between a black Honda Civic and tractor semi-trailer that was parked on the side,” said Pack.

The man was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no one else was hurt in the crash, Pack said.

The northbound truck route was shut down as a result of the crash until 11:52 a.m., according to Pack.

The incident is still under investigation.

So sad. I saw this before first responders got there. Praying for this mans family.

  2. That’s why cars need to stay out of the truck lanes.

    • Nina Garwood Nina Garwood says:

The article didn’t say he was in the truck lane though… Sad to say that both car and truck drivers these days are reckless to say the least !! I encounter this on a daily basis . Worst drivers ever here in Ca!!!

  3. Poor guy probably fell asleep,or worse checking a text message! Nothing wrong with driving through the truck route,if your careful! He obviously swerved out of lanes. ..

  4. David Aston David Aston says:

This is what happens when people try to take the truck lanes as a short cut and cut in and out around the trucks. I see it every day as I drive my rig to Valencia. The cars have no respect for the trucks that HAVE to be there.

    • Yup exactly that road belongs to you guys. Truckers travel for hundreds of miles and they get tired. The thing is ordinary drivers just think about themselves rather than give respect to one of the biggest things on the road

    • David Aston David Aston says:

I’m not saying the truck lanes are for trucks only (only in my dreams) , but please, please little cars be mindful that we HAVE to be there and we are NOT as fast and can’t stop as quickly as you. We are paid to drive safely and are doing our best to avoid any kind of accident. We rely on others to do the same.
So please be courteous to the truckers and we will do the same.
Everyone has a place to get to, let’s all do it safely.

  5. Maribell Rodriguez here is the accident you were talking about

Evan Smith sad ? ppl need to slow down!

  8. April Fiege April Fiege says:

Someone crashed into a parked rig?

  9. RIP and condolences to the family and friends.

  10. I take the truck route in heavy traffic BECAUSE the truck drivers are better drivers. I trust them. I get in the right lane and stay there. No weaving, no cutting off, and courteous merging. Thank you, truckers!

  11. Was he texting and driving? Hum!! I wonder??

  12. Lucy Romero Lucy Romero says:
