potatosaladIn cooperation with Reser’s Fine Foods’ voluntary recall of refrigerated salads that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, Albertsons and Safeway stores are voluntarily recalling several refrigerated salad products supplied by Reser’s. Reser’s was notified by a supplier that Listeria monocytogenes may be present in one lot of onions that was used in the manufacture of these salads.

Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant woman.

The Reser’s recall impacts Albertsons stores in nine states and Safeway, Vons, Pavilions and Pak ‘N Save stores in 15 states. For Albertsons stores, only the following product in the noted states is subject to the recall.
