Plan to celebrate Multi-Use Trails Day on Saturday June 4 with a fun-filled event at Pathfinder Community Regional Park located at 18150 Pathfinder Rd. in Rowland Heights, CA 91748 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Brought to you by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation in collaboration with Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, this family event will include self-guided multi-use trail excursions along the Schabarum Extension Trail, educational workshops and presentations, food, entertainment and a host of informational booths. The many participants include the Los Angeles County Departments of Parks and Recreation, Public Health, Fire and Sheriff; U.S. Forest Service, California Highway Patrol, Bike San Gabriel Valley, Day One, Trails for All and the Compton Jr. Posse.

Visitors may ride, hike, or bike at their own leisure along two trail excursion routes of the Schabarum Extension Trail. One route, the Family Route, is an easy two mile roundtrip excursion suitable for any experience level and the second route, the Hillside Route, is a 3.4 mile roundtrip excursion along a hillside which is recommended for intermediate to experienced trail users. Self-guided trail excursions are encouraged any time between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on both routes. Event staff and volunteers will be providing shade stops, water and snacks throughout the day along both trail routes.

National Trails Day is designed to celebrate the Nation’s trails systems and the people who support them. Here in Los Angeles County, the Department proudly maintains more than 200 miles of multi-use trails spanning the geographic diversity of the region which helps to preserve the County’s equestrian heritage while offering opportunities for mountain biking and hiking by residents and tourists of all ages.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate for June weather. Please remember your sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and cell phones.
