Preventing Another Gas Leak
On July 1st I met up with members of the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council to discuss the passage of the Natural Gas Leak Prevention Act and the next steps for ensuring tragedies like the Porter Ranch gas leak never harm our communities again. Porter Ranch Hearing
My staff attended the South Coast Air Quality Management District Hearing this weekend to listen to the testimony put forth by witnesses, the Air Quality Management District, and SoCal Gas. The purpose of the hearing was to hear the status of compliance to the abatement put forth by SCAQMD on the Aliso Canyon Facility.

Great meeting in my Washington, DC office last Thursday with Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles Jeff Gorell, my old State Assembly colleague. We discussed important public safety issues including countering violent terrorism, cyber-security, and earthquake resilience.

Solar Fuels Innovation Act
We are excited to announce HR 5638, that the Solar Fuels Innovation Act, a bill we introduced last week, passed the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology on July 7th with bipartisan support! This measure would institute a research program to develop the advanced chemistry needed in order to convert sunlight into storable fuels, which will create far-reaching economic impacts for the future. Helping Families Cope with Mental Health Crises
On Wednesday I was proud to support H.R. 2646, the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act. This bill would make changes to federal mental health programs and create several grant programs for states and localities so that we can better address the needs of the many patients & families dealing mental health issues across our country.
